Nestled within the illustrious Everest Khumbu Himalayan range, Lobuche East Peak, standing at 6119 meters, beckons adventurers with its captivating allure and diverse climbing routes, notably ascended via the South Ridge. Our meticulously crafted itinerary ensures optimal acclimatization and expedition success, beginning with a journey to Everest Base Camp and Kalapattar. Upon returning to Lobuche village, our route leads to the Lobuche Peak base camp at 4,950 meters, nestled near a tranquil lake amidst the rocky hollow of the glaciated South-West Face, offering breathtaking vistas of iconic peaks including Amadablam, Cholaste, Thamserku, Kantega, and Tawache, enriching the expedition with unparalleled grandeur and serenity.


Itinerary

We greet you at Kathmandu's Tribhuwan International Airport (1310 m), ensuring a smooth transfer to your hotel. We recommend arriving until 4 PM. The capital's cultural heart, Thamel, awaits exploration with its myriad shops and eateries. Tonight, we relish Nepali flavours at a local restaurant, with a trip briefing setting the stage for our adventure.
Our journey to the Everest region begins with a scenic drive through the hills and valleys of Kathmandu Valley to Manthali (1593 m). Rest in this peaceful town, soaking up the anticipation of the ascent ahead. Length: 130 km (80,7 m) Altitude difference: 193 m (633 ft) Time: 6-7 hours by car
An exhilarating flight to Lukla provides stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. From here, we trek to Phakding (2610 m/ 8563 ft), passing through the bustling Lukla village and the serene Dudh Kosi River. The day is capped off with a stay in a cosy lodge in Phakding. Crossing the Hillary Suspension Bridge, we are rewarded with our first glimpse of Mt. Thamserku. The trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 m/ 11,286 ft) is filled with natural beauty, culminating in an overnight stay in this vibrant Sherpa capital, with shops and cafes. Utilizing this day for acclimatization, we hike to vantage points, offering sweeping views of Everest and Ama Dablam. Visiting local landmarks like the Hillary School, we delve into Sherpa culture before returning to our lodge in Namche. Length: 6 km (3,7 m) Altitude difference: 300 m (984 ft) Time: 4 hours
Ascending through forests and valleys, we reach the sacred site of Tengboche Monastery (3860 m/ 12,664 ft), set against the backdrop of Everest. We participate in local rituals and spend the night enveloped by the tranquillity of this spiritual location. Length: 10 km (6,2 m) Altitude difference: 420 m (1377 ft) Time: 6 hours
Journeying past Pangboche, home to the famous Yeti scalp, we experience the Sherpa lifestyle firsthand. In the evening, we find ourselves in Dingboche (4410 m/ 14,469 ft), which offers stark views of Lhotse and Ama Dablam as we rest in this picturesque village. Another day to acclimate includes optional hikes to surrounding peaks or simply resting amidst the breathtaking scenery, the panoramic vistas of distinguished peaks, including Ama Dablam and Makalu, set amidst a landscape adorned with serene lakes and glistening glaciers. Navigating icy torrents, we trek to the remote hamlet of Lobuche (4910 m/ 16,109 ft). Surrounded by a stunning frozen expanse, the proximity to our ultimate peak fuels us with excitement. Length: 8 km (4,9 m) Altitude difference: 500 m (1640 ft) Time: 4-5 hours
The trek to Everest Base Camp (5364 m/ 17,598 ft) is momentous. The Sirdar's primary responsibility is to ensure our secure passage through the intricate terrain of the Khumbu Glacier, allowing us to stand in awe of the formidable Khumbu Icefall and the majestic South Face of Everest. Our ascent continues to Gorakshep (5140 m/ 16,864 ft), where we trek to the Everest Base Camp. The return to Gorakshep offers a chance to reflect on the day's profound achievements. Ascending to Kala Patthar (5555 m/ 18,208 ft) early, we witness one of Nepal's most extraordinary panoramas before descending back to Lobuche (4910 m/ 16,109 ft), completing a six-hour roundtrip journey. There, comfortable accommodation awaits. Length: 15-16 km (9,3-9,9 m) Altitude difference: -230 m (-754 ft) Time: 10 hours
Our path to Lobuche Base Camp (4950 m/ 16,240 ft) offers a moderate ascent in a five-hour trek. The initial leg of the journey traverses flat terrain, while the latter half presents a challenging ascent. This path segment is notably rocky and skirts along the bank of the Lobouche Glacier, providing impressive views of the surrounding Himalayan giants. Over the next two days, our accommodation will be provided in well-appointed tented camps, complemented by culinary delights prepared by our skilled professional chef. Our evening is spent in the comfort of tented camps under the stars. Altitude difference: 490 m (1607 ft) Time: 4 hours
We rise early for the Lobuche Peak ascent, an exhilarating full-day climb (approximately ten hours) culminating in panoramic views from the summit (6119 m/ 20,075 ft). The return to base camp allows us to bask in the satisfaction of our achievement. Altitude difference: +719 m -450 m (+ 2358 ft -1476 ft) Time: 8-10 hours
This reserved day acts as a buffer to ensure the best summit attempt, considering weather and health conditions, emphasizing our commitment to a safe and successful climb.
Descending through the mountains, we reach Pangboche (4000 m/ 13,123 ft) in approximately six hours. There, we unwind in the comfort of a local lodge and reminisce about our experiences. Length: 9 km (5,5 m) Altitude difference: -1400 m (-4593 ft) Time: 5 hours
Our return trek to Namche Bazaar (3441 m/ 11,290 ft) takes us through Tengboche Monastery. We spend the evening in this Sherpa hub's warm embrace. Length: 13,5 km (8,3 m) Altitude difference: -560 m (-1837 ft) Time: 6 hours
We make our final descent to Lukla (2840 m/ 9,318 ft), passing through rhododendron forests and Sherpa villages, ending our trek with a celebration of our collective journey. Length: 18 km (8,3 m) Altitude difference: -600 m (-1837 ft) Time: 7 hours
A return flight to Manthali (1593 m) and a scenic drive back to Kathmandu (1400 m) mark the final day of our journey. We celebrate the successful completion of our trek with a farewell dinner in Kathmandu. You can depart after the dinner or the next day.
