The International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations (IFMGA) is the international umbrella organization for mountain guide associations worldwide. It sets the standards for mountain guide certification and works to promote the profession of mountain guiding globally. If you want to practice any technical activity in the mountains, they're the only ones who can guide you safely.
An Environmental Hiking Guide or Mountain Leader is a professional who is trained and qualified to lead groups on hikes and other outdoor activities in natural areas, including parks, protected areas, and wilderness areas. They may lead guided hikes, nature walks, birdwatching tours, and other outdoor activities, providing information and interpretation about the natural and cultural history of the areas they visit.
If you want to go outdoors on an adventure, make sure to rely on a certified guide. To earn the title of certified guide, a professional must take classes and pass exams. Depending on the country the guide operates, the activity, and other factors, a guide is certified only if he is an official National or International Guides Association member.
For example, if you want to go outdoor climbing or back-country skiing in Italy, IFMGA UIAGM mountain guides are the only professionals that can guide you.
If you want to go on trekking, depending on the difficulty, AMM or GAE guides can bring you there.
