Overview

Ski-touring is the ultimate way to explore the mountains in winter, and what better place to learn how to do this than the Brenta Dolomites? A UNESCO site forming part of the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park, this area is characterized by its breath-taking rocky landscapes, pristine slopes, excellent food and friendly locals. This trip is perfect if you are a skier who is curious to try ski-touring - as long as you have good technique on-piste (i.e. can ski down red slopes) -or if you are looking for something not particularly challenging in terms of elevation gain and technical level. A local guide will accompany you step by step, curve by curve, working with you to improve your technique and develop the necessary skills to safely lead an expedition. You will be staying in a scenic mountain hut and experiencing a real winter mountain environment.

DAY 4

Final tour and departure

A half-day ski-touring (for example, a tour of the Malghetto Lake or short trip in the area) before heading off home. If you enjoyed yourself hopefully we'll see you again on one of our rock climbing trips!

The program is very flexible to take into account weather conditions, climbing level, and endurance of the group

Brenta Dolomites

Brenta Dolomites offer gentle slopes next to breath-taking rock formations

The Brenta Dolomites is a UNESCO site forming the Adamello-Brento Natural Park, and the only section of the Dolomites to the west of the Adige river. Compared to the other better-known sections of the Dolomites, Brenta is characterized by a feeling of isolation and nature: no road runs through the centre of the group, so you are - quite literally - off-the-beaten-track.

The macro area chosen for this trip is the Grostè Pass in the North of the group. This area offers many itineraries (over 20!), from the most challenging (such as Sassara Peak or the Vallesinella Castle) to easy ones suitable for beginners. It's the perfect place to get to grips with the sport while exploring a truly unique area.

Skiing Skills

Skiing Skills

You don't have to have previous ski-touring experience, as you will be accompanied at all times by a certified mountain guide who can teach you the required skills. The trip is open to both skiers and snowboarders (with a splitboard). To get the most out of this trip, you should be able to ski down a red piste easily and have some off-piste experience. The average elevation gain is 1000m per day, hence you need to be moderately fit. Your guide will adapt the itinerary according to the level and preferences of the group and conditions.

Equipment rental

Equipment rental

You can rent basic ski-touring equipment (skis, boots, poles) and avalanche rescue equipment (beacon, probe and shovel) for this trip. Just head to the checkout section and you will be able to add these items for a small fee. (Note that you can choose between renting each item individually or renting a set of ski-touring and/or avalanche rescue equipment. It is mandatory for everyone to have a full avalanche kit with them at all times when ski-touring).
