Finale Ligure is arguably one of the most technical climbing areas you can find in Italy. The area hosts almost 4000 sport climbing routes of various styles - from fine slabs to dead-vertical and steep walls - which makes it a prime destination for every beginner climber who want to improve their climbing technique. Take advantage of the first Mapo Tapo's sport-climbing class and your coach's experience, Local Certified Mountain Guide Giovanni "Gio", to step up you climbing game. You will understand, learn and put into practice the most fundamentals and critical skills to gain confidence at the crag.

Climbing Technique

Belaying Techniques
Understand how belaying truly works, and learn the difference between static and dynamic belaying, the role of the belayer in a climbing performance, and how to prevent any kind of incident when sport-climbing.
DAY 3
Route Setting and Cleaning
Learn advanced techniques for setting up and cleaning a route, allowing for an autonomous, seamless climbing experience in any situation.
DAY 4
Rope Management and Gear
Learn what gear suits your needs the best in different scenarios, and gain expertise in handling ropes effectively when at the crag, a crucial skill for any climber.

Crag Selection
Discover the art of choosing the best crag based on factors like the time of year and time of day, maximizing your climbing experience.

Climbing Skills
No minimum level is required for this trip, since Liguria boasts crags of all levels and the instructor is a fully certified mountain guide. As for the maximim level... well everyone can benefit from some rock climbing training! Even Adam Ondra is looking for a 9c+ :)
Liability
Mapo Tapo selects crags and local partners with the utmost care. For any inaccuracies, however, we can not accept any liability. Rock climbing is a risky sport that takes place in nature. Ultimately, you are fully responsible for the choices you make. Mapo Tapo recommends that anyone who does not have sufficient knowledge and skills not to go outdoor alone.

What level do I need to be climbing at to join this trip?
This clinic requires previous climbing experience since you will learn specific climbing techniques and advanced belaying methods. If you regularly climb indoors 1 to 3 times per week or you've already experienced outdoor climbing, but you want to step up your game, this clinic is for you! Finale Ligure boasts crags of all levels, and the instructor is a Certified IFMGA Mountain Guide.
What group size can I expect for this trip?
The maximum group size for this trip is 6, so expect to get lots of climbing in and some 1-on-1 time with your guide. If we exceed the maximum number of participants, we will be joined by another IFMGA Certified Local Mountain Guide.
