Why Slovenia? Well, why not! If you are looking for a ski touring trip in a breath-taking environment, but don't want to risk finding too many people, Slovenia is the place for you. Unique and wild spots...and March seems the best period to go skiing in the Julian Alps. Join Mitja, a local IFMGA mountain guide, for three days of wild ski touring in the Triglav National Park Traverse, going from Bohinj lake to Mojstrana. He will allow you to see breathtaking landscapes and enjoy beautiful slopes, going up and down! The backcountry tour includes skiing and skinning up to 35° with some short an tricky descents on skins :) Your basecamp will be in the mountains...you will stay in different huts in the middle of the park! As Mitja says, " If you like goulash, red beans, and beer, this is the perfect winter trip for you!" :)
Mitja is a certificate Local IFMGA Mountain Guide from Slovenia. He's a sunny and fun person but very professional. He is known for being able to organise perfect tours of his land and make you discover unspoilt territories.

After a good breakfast, you'll meet your guide Mitja :)
Today you will do 11km with 1200 height metres from Vogel to Komna! A perfect and challenging start!
There will be 3 up and down, some challenging climbs with skins and cool descents in the fresh snow. Mitja will try to get you off-the-beaten-track to discover a wild and free Triglav mountain!
Up to the Komna hut
Today will be one of the highlights of the tour, hike through valley of the seven lakes located in Triglav National Park that was formed in 1920s!
You will cover approximately 13km with a height difference of 1100 metres. This day offers limited skiing options, but skinning up the valley to the hut will let you explore the mountain in a different way!
Last day on Triglav!
The last day of skiing, you are getting super close to our highest mountain Triglav! It is a day with almost 2000 vertical meters of skiing, about 15km in total.
It is time to descent to Bled! You can choose to stay sleep in Bled or leaving to return home, just remember it will be late!
The program is very flexible to take into account weather conditions, climbing level, and endurance of the group

Triglav is a powerful national symbol!
Triglav is a powerful national symbol, It is the highest mountain of the Julian Alps with its 2864 meters above sea level. There are several routes leading to the summit with its height it is a real »hatchery« of snow and therefore an interesting alpine-skiing destination. In addition to the imposing peaks, the world of the Julian Alps is adorned by picturesque valleys with iconic lakes and rivers.
You will spend one night in a comfortable hut with showers and warm rooms, and a cable car will be transported your equipment as food, beverage, etc... to the hut. You will spend the second night in a winter room stocked with pots, gas, and stoves. This time you'll carry the food there.

Due to the nature of this course, you should be at ease with ski touring techniques and skiing on all types of snow. A good level of fitness is recommended.

Ultimately, you are fully responsible for the choices you make. Mapo Tapo recommends that anyone who does not have sufficient knowledge and skills not go outdoor alone. What group size can I expect?
This trip is designed for groups of a maximum 7 people with a minimum of 1 to let the experience start!
What level do I need to be at to participate in this trip?
This trip is for intermediate and advanced skiers because the tour includes skiing and skinning up to 35° with some short, tricky descents on skins, so it is not suitable for beginners.
Good training is required.
How do I get there and to the meeting point?
The meeting point is in Bled; you can get there by car or bus.
The arrival and departure airport closer is in Ljubljana, also neighbouring airports like Venice or Trieste.
Is the transport to/from Bled included?
No, it is not included in the price, but Mitja can help you with the organisation.
How much does the hut cost?
The accommodation is not included in the price; you will need to pay directly to the hut on the spot. Half board on the hut is 50€ per person and includes Dinner, Breakfast, sleeping and the cargo cable car that transports the food like your snack.

What equipment it can be provide?
These are equipment that the guide can provide to you: Spare telescopic pole, Leatherman (pliers, knife, screwdriver, can opener), Wax, Scouring pad/scraper, Cord, Duck Tape, Spare screws or replacements for equipment that commonly breaks and Spare transceiver batteries.
You can rent skies and other technical gear from specialised shops in Slovenia with the assistance of your guide; you have to warn earlier.
