Overview

Lying at 48° North in the Arctic Circle of Norway, Lofoten is a true ski-touring paradise. A place of striking natural beauty - think dramatic mountains rising straight out of the peaceful sea - the area's unique topography offers great opportunities for fun ski-touring excursions for all levels. Thanks to the island's Northern latitude, you're almost guaranteed incredible snow conditions without ever having to exceed an altitude of 1,200m. No need to acclimatise or be exceptionally fit! The small group nature of the Lofoten ski-touring trip gives you the opportunity to pick excursions that appeal most to you and work closely with your guide to improve your confidence and skills. Expect soul-stirring views from the summits, breath-taking descents and the experience of a lifetime skiing in this literal winter wonderland.

Lofoten Islands, Norway

A remote ski-touring paradise with reliable snow conditions, allowing you in most cases to ski from summit to sea...

The Lofoten Islands are known for their dramatic scenery, vibrant fishing industry and beautiful northern lights. A popular tourist destination in summer, in winter this area turns into a remote ski-touring paradise with reliable snow conditions, allowing you in most cases to ski from summit to sea. Although slightly lower than the mainland peaks, the 1100m high mountains have much to offer the skier: powder slopes, broad couloirs, narrow chutes and open birch forest. The varied terrain means you'll find interesting ski-touring excursions for all levels, with an elevation gain of less than 1000m so it's not too taxing to ski multiple days in a row (if you're quite fit you may even be able to do two peaks in a day). Make sure to bring a camera as the  views over mountains and the sea are truly one-of-a-kind!
