Overview

To most people, Mallorca is famous for its ravishing beaches, azure views, rugged mountains, and cozy hill towns. But for us climbers, this sunny Spanish island means only one thing: PSICOBLOC (aka deep water solo)! Climbing without a rope on cliffs right over the sea: and if you fall, a nice splash and you try again. Between November and March, when the waters are too cold for DWS, Mallorca still provides some of the best crags around! Hundreds of sport climbing routes for all levels, surrounded by breath-taking and wil sceneries (hint: did you know there's a canyon in Mallorca? - full of awesome routes, of course).

Rock & Water Mallorca

Rock & Water Mallorca

‘Rock & Water Mallorca’ was born from the necessity to go beyond the conventional circuit, the desire to explore, discover and share nature with respect and admiration within a secure environment. It's a group of 8 super guides wanting to introduce you to the island!

The Experience

Mallorca is a climber's climbing dream. Sport-climb and DWS on stunning limestone are the main attractions. However, it's not all there. The cliffs coming right off the sea allow us to have some extra fun with other activities such as canyoning and coasteering. From November to April temperatures may not be optimal for doing DWS. But don't worry, you will have the chance to have a great canyoning tour!

DAY 1

Arrival + welcome dinner

Arrival day. Our local partners will come and pick you up to bring you to our basecamp. As a first night start, we will have a welcome dinner at a typical restaurant to get to know each other and plan the next days.

(If possible, we recommend arriving by 4PM, so as to have the time to enjoy the welcome dinner)

DAY 2

Climbing hard

Today we go out in the wilderness and we climb some rocks. The crags we'll visit will be chosen together with our local guide depending on the group climbing level and preferences.

DAY 3

Climbing harder

Different day, different crag. Mallorca can offer different climbing styles for all tastes. Slabs, overhangs, cracks, what do you like best? Let's see what the group prefers and then let Seba take you to the perfect crag.

DAY 4

Bonus day

Half DWS day. Hope you saved some skin because today you'll need it! If weather and sea conditions are favorable, get ready for deep water soloing. You'll climb around 4-6 hours today. In case conditions are not ideal, we have other things in store (spoiler alert: canyoning!).

DAY 5

Departure

Last day sadness. After a rich breakfast with the group, our local partners will take you back to the city or to the airport. It's not a goodbye, it's just a see you soon!

(We recommend departures between 10AM and 6PM)

The programme is very flexible to take into account weather conditions, activities level and endurance of the group.

Mallorca has for a long time established itself as one of Europe's best rock climbing destinations

The island of Mallorca has for a long time established itself as one of Europe's best rock climbing and sport climbing destinations. The east coast of Mallorca is now established as a world-class venue for Deep Water Soloing (DWS), as well. The type of rock is mainly limestone and there are routes for all tastes: slabby walls, evil overhangs, juggy tufas, roofs, and cracks. With a few exceptions, the majority of the rock climbing on the island is single pitch, with plenty of routes for every grade. Combine this with its beautiful beaches, rugged coastline, and the dramatic Tramuntana mountain range and it is easy to see why Mallorca is becoming an incredibly popular climbing destination

Liability

Mapo Tapo selects crags and local partners with the utmost care. We can for any inaccuracies, however, accept no liability. Rock climbing is a risky sport that takes place in nature. Ultimately, you are fully responsible for the choices you make. Mapo Tapo recommends that anyone who does not have sufficient knowledge not to go outdoor alone.

Mallorca is a gorgeous island for climbing and Mapo Tapo had experienced guides who knew all the best places to go to. The group was small and nice, with people from all over the world. I would definitely book a trip with Mapo Tapo again!

FAQs

There is no minimum level for this trip as you will be accompanied at all times by a certified guide. Mallorca boasts crags for all levels, from beginner to super pro!

The minimum number of climbers required for this trip to run is 3 and the maximum group size 8. So expect lots of 1-on-1 time with your guide :)

Airport transfers and transport to/from all activities are included in the price of this trip. All you need to do is tell us your flight details in advance.

The airport is: Palma de Mallorca Airport

The accommodation: Hostel Sollèr
Address: C. de Santa Teresa 27, 07100 Sóller

Depending on the season, there will be the option to do a day of deep water soloing as well. If the conditions are not favourable, then your guide will arrange an alternative activity for you instead (think canyoning - or more sport climbing if you're keen).

There will always be 2 climbing days and 1 half DWS day or other activity depending on the weather.

Let's say in general that the outdoors, especially in the case of activities with objective risks (climbing, mountaineering, ski mountaineering, to name but a few), is an environment where the choice of the certified guide leading the group prevails.  This is because, in these cases, the guide is contractually responsible for your actions and safety. Of course, you are free to make suggestions to the guide, but ultimately the choice to do something or go to a particular place depends on the guide's decision and judgement. The fact that the guide does not accept suggestions/plan changes can occur mainly for two reasons: (a) objective risk (rock or water conditions, etc.); (b) weather risk. If, for example, it takes too long to reach a specific place and the weather is already a little unstable, the guide has every right to prefer a closer place or to sound the alarm earlier so that it is safer/closer.

During the deep water solo, you'll move on a boat during the half day of activity.
The boat is huge (don't imagine a yacht here :) ), but you will all fit comfortably.

Its abundance of attractions, unique architectural style on the island, geographical location and year-round vitality make Sóller an unmissable stop for anyone coming to Mallorca.

During your free time, the Mapo Tapo team recommends a relaxing stroll through the historical centre of Soller, full of extraordinary architecture such as La Iglesia de San Bartolomeu or St Bartholomew's church.

We also recommend taking the Soller tram, which will take you to the port, one of the most charming places in Mallorca.

Finally, if you still have time and desire, we recommend Can Prunera, a beautiful palace built in 1911.
