Mallorca, Spain
Mallorca has for a long time established itself as one of Europe's best rock climbing destinations
The island of Mallorca has for a long time established itself as one of Europe's best rock climbing and sport climbing destinations. The east coast of Mallorca is now established as a world-class venue for Deep Water Soloing (DWS), as well. The type of rock is mainly limestone and there are routes for all tastes: slabby walls, evil overhangs, juggy tufas, roofs, and cracks. With a few exceptions, the majority of the rock climbing on the island is single pitch, with plenty of routes for every grade. Combine this with its beautiful beaches, rugged coastline, and the dramatic Tramuntana mountain range and it is easy to see why Mallorca is becoming an incredibly popular climbing destination

Is this trip all sport climbing, or can I expect other activities as well?
Depending on the season, there will be the option to do a day of deep water soloing as well. If the conditions are not favourable, then your guide will arrange an alternative activity for you instead (think canyoning - or more sport climbing if you're keen).
There will always be 2 climbing days and 1 half DWS day or other activity depending on the weather.
Why is it important to have a certified guide with you during the activities?
Let's say in general that the outdoors, especially in the case of activities with objective risks (climbing, mountaineering, ski mountaineering, to name but a few), is an environment where the choice of the certified guide leading the group prevails. This is because, in these cases, the guide is contractually responsible for your actions and safety. Of course, you are free to make suggestions to the guide, but ultimately the choice to do something or go to a particular place depends on the guide's decision and judgement. The fact that the guide does not accept suggestions/plan changes can occur mainly for two reasons: (a) objective risk (rock or water conditions, etc.); (b) weather risk. If, for example, it takes too long to reach a specific place and the weather is already a little unstable, the guide has every right to prefer a closer place or to sound the alarm earlier so that it is safer/closer.
What about the DWS day?
During the deep water solo, you'll move on a boat during the half day of activity.
The boat is huge (don't imagine a yacht here :) ), but you will all fit comfortably.
What can I visit in Soller during free time?
Its abundance of attractions, unique architectural style on the island, geographical location and year-round vitality make Sóller an unmissable stop for anyone coming to Mallorca.
During your free time, the Mapo Tapo team recommends a relaxing stroll through the historical centre of Soller, full of extraordinary architecture such as La Iglesia de San Bartolomeu or St Bartholomew's church.
We also recommend taking the Soller tram, which will take you to the port, one of the most charming places in Mallorca.
Finally, if you still have time and desire, we recommend Can Prunera, a beautiful palace built in 1911.
