Overview

The Matterhorn ascent is an iconic and legendary mountaineering challenge that captivates climbers from around the world. Rising majestically on the border between Switzerland and Italy, the Matterhorn stands as one of the most recognizable peaks in the Alps, with its distinctive pyramid shape and sharp, towering summit. This ascent remains one of the most sough-after challenges dreamed by mountaineers from all over the world, wishing to follow the footsteps of its first conquerer, J.A. Carrel, the first to summit in 1865. Climbing up a spectacular ridge that offers 360 ° views of the surrounding Alps we will reach the prestigious top of the Matterhorn.

DAY 1

The Lion Ridge

Also known as the ‘Italian Normal route’, this epic ascent develops almost entirely on an exposed ridge which connects the Lion Ridge with Pic Tyndall, leading to the summit of Matterhorn at 4478m. The Normal Italian route is slightly shorter than the Swiss route (which develops along the Hörnli ridge) but nevertheless, it is technically more demanding, with several passages of IV degree climb at high altitudes. These sections are fitted with fixed ropes and rope ladders to aid the ascent, an endurance test that will not disappoint the most eager mountaineers!

The programme is very flexible to take into account weather conditions, activities level and endurance of the group.
