Taghia, Marrakech
Located about 250km east of Marrakech, Taghia is the definition of off-the-beaten-track. Getting to the village alone requires a two-hour trek, and from there the crags are accessible only by foot. As a result, you are guaranteed a feeling of serentiy and isolation, and get to experience a more traditional Moroccan way of life.
The climbing at Taghia is spread over three converging orange limestone gorges, 200 to 800m long, with bolted routues between 5 and 8a. Although the area is best-known for its challengeing multi-pitches, there's plenty of excellent sport climbing to get dug into as well. Bring a pair of sturdy approach shoes, as getting to the crags can be quite the adventure!
