Overview
The Riserva dello Zingaro, located on the north-western coast of Sicily, is a beautiful nature reserve that offers an unforgettable trekking experience. With its jagged cliffs, crystal-clear turquoise waters and variety of flora and fauna, it has become a popular destination for nature lovers and hikers. When you begin your trek through the Zingaro Reserve, you will be greeted by a breathtaking landscape of unspoilt beauty. The reserve stretches about seven kilometres, from the village of Scopello to San Vito Lo Capo, and has a network of well-marked trails that wind along the coast and into the heart of the reserve. The paths within the reserve vary in difficulty and are suitable for both beginners and experienced hikers. Along the way, you will always be accompanied by a certified local guide who will show you around! Are you ready for this truly immersive experience?

You can choose from 3 different routes that change according to difficulty, length and altitude difference.

DAY 1
The easier one: The Coastal Trail
The first path in the Zingaro Nature Reserve that you can choose is the most easily accessible trek that stretches for about 7 km and takes about 2 hours (one way). The landscape is characterised by varied vegetation such as broom, thyme, almond, ash, carob, etc. The coastal path offers breathtaking views of contrasting colours: rock, water, white stone and deep green dwarf palm. In addition, there are convenient picnic spots scattered around the reserve.
DAY 2
The medium one: The Mid-Coast Trail
The medium-difficult trek in the Zingaro Nature Reserve takes about 4 hours and covers 8.5 km. It offers breathtaking views and allows you to explore the upper part of the reserve. The route leads to Borgo Cusenza and Contrada Sughero, where bivouac shelters are available. A permit for the reserve can be obtained between October and May. In spring, the paths come alive with beautiful orchids and wooden fences indicate alternative routes. The choice of how to proceed is up to you.
DAY 3
The tough one: The High Trail
The most demanding trek in the Zingaro Nature Reserve is reserved for experienced hikers. It is an uphill route of 17 km, requiring about 7 hours of walking. The route crosses the peaks of Monte Passo del Lupo (868 m), Monte Speziale (914 m) and Monte Scardina (680 m). Aleppo pines and holm oaks characterise the mountain landscape, and from the peaks, hikers can enjoy a splendid view of the distant sea with its breathtaking colours.
The programme is very flexible to take into account weather conditions, activities level and endurance of the group.

Hiking Skills
Depending on the route you choose, an equal physical level will be required. Certainly for all types of trail, a great desire to walk and discover the area will be required.
Flexible Date
The date indicated may be subject to flexibility. If you would like to participate in the experience but cannot make it on the day indicated, write to us with the best date for you, and we will contact the guide for confirmation!
