Overview

The island of Vulcano is one of three volcanically active islands offering breathtaking views and unique geological phenomena. You can choose between different itineraries of different lengths: half-day or full-day for exciting adventures and discoveries! Join our local guide, who will accompany you all the way, and explore the island with your group!

The Experience

Here is a list of available itineraries, which differ according to duration and weather and volcanic conditions.

DAY 1

Valle Roja

We explore the wild heart of the island of Vulcano on an exciting trek through the Valle Roja canyon. Along this tuff path, you will admire the layers of volcanic ash that have shaped the island over the centuries. You will enjoy the strong colour contrasts and bizarre shapes sculpted by water erosion, until you reach the Palizzi cave and the island's only freshwater source. The trek will last approximately 3h30.

DAY 2

Punta Luccia

The volcanic island in the Mediterranean offers a unique sensory experience thanks to an enchanting path through a pine and eucalyptus forest. The visual beauty and the smells that emanate are simply extraordinary. The surprise comes when you glimpse the majestic volcanic cliff plunging into the sea: Punta Luccia. Instantly, one finds oneself in an almost alien volcanic landscape with colours and stratifications of extraordinary beauty. This trek takes about 2h30.

DAY 3

Monte Saraceno

Mount Saraceno, the second highest peak on the island of Vulcano, is a volcanic cone with an elegant pyramid shape. When you reach the summit, you can admire a splendid panorama of the entire island of Vulcano, with its cones of scoriae, eruptions and fissures formed over the years. You will also enjoy a unique view of the Gran Cratere, with Mount Etna dominating the coast and the mountains of northern Sicily behind the Nebrodi Mountains. This trek takes 1-2 hours.

The programme is very flexible to take into account weather conditions, activities level and endurance of the group.

The experience is suitable for all levels. You will find different treks on the island of Vulcano; you can choose the best one for you according to your physical fitness and training.
