Itinerary

Your guide collects you at Martigny train station - a direct train ride from Geneva airport - at 4:00 PM. We start with group introductions, then you settle into the accommodation before dinner. Accommodation, dinner, breakfast, and specialist equipment are included. Lunches and drinks are not included. Our accommodation features mixed rooms with bathrooms, showers, a bar, and a restaurant. Depending on conditions, we use various places, one of which requires a 2km walk from the car park, so pack light. Items can be left in the van.
We head out from our base in a mountain valley to a location perfect for gaining snowshoeing skills, learning to move over the snow with ease. We complete a small journey into the Swiss wilderness, surrounded by incredible mountain backdrops. Depending on conditions, there may be an optional sledge run at the end of the day for the adventurous. Others can warm up with hot chocolate or hot wine. Length: 8 km (4.9 m) Altitude difference: 421 m (1381 ft)
We start early and embark on a 5km trail, ascending 450m to reach the Grand Saint Bernard Monastery. We break for tea and food with the monks. Afterward, we make a short journey across the Italian border before returning to the Hospice for dinner and optional evensong. Evenings in the Hospice can be quiet or fun, depending on your choices. Please note this is a high mountain trail, and in poor weather or avalanche conditions, another route may be chosen. Length: 7 km (4.3 m) Altitude difference: 600 m (1968 ft)
After breakfast with the monks, we descend the route we climbed the previous day to return to the bus. On the way down to Martigny, we visit a cheese factory to try local cheeses and make some purchases. Our final stop is Barryland to see and, hopefully, pet the famous St. Bernard dogs. You are then dropped back at Martigny train station at 3:30 PM. Most people return to Geneva by train (1h 50m) for an evening flight home. Length: 5 km (3.1 m) Altitude difference: 500 m (1640 ft)
