What you'll do

Set off on a challenging 2-day Via Ferrata journey, scaling the awe-inspiring south face of Mont Blanc in the French Alps. Ideal for those with some climbing experience, the path weaves from Rifugio Monzino to Rifugio Borelli, offering a rich tapestry of ferrata routes and climbing sections. With space for small groups of up to three, immerse yourself in the grandeur of towering granite pillars and vast glaciers, enhancing the alpine splendor we navigate together.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Setting out to Rifugio Monzino

Climb Time: 4 to 5 hours Elevation Gain: +930 meters We start our adventure from the Freney parking area, stepping into the Via Ferrata Italy experience. Together, we follow the path leading to Lago delle Marmotte, veering towards the Miage moraine, guided by yellow markers to the Aiguille du Châtelet's west. Here, the Via Ferrata climbing begins with Luigi Glarey's cables guiding us up. We navigate alongside the glacier, entering a realm where the mountain alps tower above. Our journey leads us to Rifugio Monzino, nestled in the heart of the Alps, without needing crampons for the glacier's edge. For those of us eager for more, a climb to the Châtelet peak offers stunning alpine views, with safety cables accompanying our ascent.

Day 2 - Moving towards Rifugio Borelli via Col Chasseur

Trek Time: 6 to 8 hours Elevation Shift: +300 meters, -1240 meters We descend from Rifugio Monzino, crossing the Freney Glacier towards Mont Rouge du Peuterey. Our ascent through the dihedral introduces us to the Ferrata Italy's essence. Reaching Col Chasseur, we're greeted by views of the Aiguille Noire and the Freney Pillars, emblematic of the best Via Ferrata experiences. Our path then leads us to Rifugio Borelli, a haven for climbers, through the Via Ferrata's cables. Returning to the valley, we follow the trail back to Freney, completing our Via Ferrata trip, enriched by shared memories and the beauty of the Alps.
