What you'll do

Alpine Freeride Odissey is a 7-day ski touring expedition through Austria’s most iconic backcountry regions—Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Fieberbrunn, Rauris, and Sport Gastein. Test your fitness, hone avalanche rescue skills, and tackle classic summits like Schusterkogel, Hoher Sonnblick, and Vorder Geißlkopf. From lift-access freeride terrain to full-day high-alpine ascents, this trip blends technical challenges, epic powder runs, and jaw-dropping views. Designed for experienced tourers seeking true mountain adventure.

Itinerary

Settle into the alpine atmosphere of Saalbach-Hinterglemm (4 PM). Participants meet the guides, check equipment, and go through an overview of avalanche safety protocols and the week’s objectives. Light activity and gear tuning prepare the group for the high-mountain challenges ahead.
A full-day ski tour to Schusterkogel (2,207 m) in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, designed to assess the group's fitness and technical abilities. The ascent features forested paths and open alpine terrain, ending with stunning 360° views. Avalanche rescue training and snowpack assessment round out the day’s skills prep.
A high-adrenaline freeride touring day exploring the legendary powder zones between Salzburg and Tyrol. Wildseeloder and neighboring peaks offer diverse terrain: steep slopes, couloirs, and easy-access powder bowls. Ideal for fine-tuning off-piste skills with minimal climbing thanks to lift-assisted access.
A major alpine objective: the 3,106 m Hoher Sonnblick. Starting from Lenzanger Parkplatz, the route features glacier travel and panoramic views. Topping out at the historic Zittelhaus (Europe’s highest weather station) makes this a technical and cultural highlight.
Explore the freeride-rich terrain of Sport Gastein with its deep snowpack and open alpine bowls. Using the lift system combined with short skins, participants discover secret powder stashes, scenic couloirs, and playful tree lines, all under the guidance of local pros.
A long and rewarding tour to the 2,974 m Vorder Geißlkopf, one of the grand summits of the Hohe Tauern. With nearly 8 hours on skis, the route crosses glacier fields and rugged alpine passes, culminating in a thrilling descent. A true test of endurance and skill.
Time for a final breakfast in the mountains (12 PM). Depending on schedules, a short morning skin or recovery walk is optional before saying goodbye to Austria's snow-covered giants and heading home with unforgettable memories and stronger mountain legs.
