What you'll do

Discover the magic of skiing in the Lofoten Islands with a beginner-friendly course designed for those new to the sport. Nestled in northern Norway, where dramatic peaks rise straight from the sea, Lofoten offers stunning scenery that's perfect for gentle ski tours and learning at a comfortable pace. Glide through peaceful snow-covered valleys and along quiet fjords while enjoying breathtaking views at every turn. Beyond the skiing, Lofoten's deep-rooted skiing history—dating back to the 1800s—adds cultural depth to your experience. The course also includes visits to the charming village of Kabelvåg, giving you a taste of the region's unique heritage.

Itinerary

Fly into Harstad/Narvik Airport (Evenes) and transfer to Svolvær, the gateway to the Lofoten Islands. From here, we head to our cozy, traditional Rorbu accommodation by the sea. Surrounded by peaceful fjords and snow-covered peaks, it’s the perfect setting to settle in, meet your guides, and get a first briefing about the course and equipment.
We begin with a hands-on introduction to ski touring equipment and basic uphill and downhill techniques. Our first easy tour takes us to Linken (400 m), a gentle peak near Svolvær. It’s ideal for learning how to use skins, pace yourself on the ascent, and try your first mellow descent on soft snow.
Today we tour to Kleppstadheia, a scenic and beginner-friendly summit with wide-open slopes. This route offers a great chance to practice climbing techniques, enjoy stunning views over the surrounding fjords, and gain confidence on the descent in varied terrain.
This day is dedicated to avalanche awareness and safety skills. You’ll learn how to use your avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel, as well as practice companion rescue scenarios. In the afternoon, we take a short ski tour near the Svolværgeita base area to put some of these skills into context on the mountain.
A classic beginner ski tour in the region, Blåtinden offers gradual slopes and spectacular views. It’s a great opportunity to work on efficient skinning techniques and enjoy a longer, flowing descent in a safe and supportive environment.
Today’s tour takes us to the gentle ridges of Småtindan, a beautiful area with open terrain and sparse birch forests. This final guided tour ties together everything learned throughout the course: route choice, group movement, transitions, and skiing with control and confidence.
Depending on weather, snow conditions, and group energy, this day can be a relaxed rest day or a bonus tour in the Vestvågøy area. You can also opt to explore the local fishing villages, enjoy a sauna session, or simply soak in the beauty of the surroundings.
After breakfast, transfer back to Harstad/Narvik Airport for your return flight home. You'll leave with improved ski touring skills, new friends, and unforgettable memories from your time in the magical landscapes of Lofoten.
