Itinerary

Welcome to Reykjavík, Iceland’s lively capital known for its blend of cosmopolitan style and traditional Nordic culture. After landing, take some time to explore the city’s vibrant streets, colorful houses, and world-class restaurants serving inventive Nordic cuisine. Reykjavík offers an intriguing mix of art galleries and museums, perfect for immersing yourself in Icelandic history and culture. After lunch, we’ll drive approximately 5.5 hours to the Troll Peninsula (Tröllaskagi), our base camp for the week. The Troll Peninsula, located between Skagafjörður and Eyjafjörður, is known for its dramatic peaks and pristine skiing terrain. Settle in and prepare for the exciting ski touring days ahead.
Our ski touring adventure begins in the Tröllaskagi area, famous for its impressive peaks rising over 1,200 meters. Today, we’ll explore the valleys near Siglufjörður, offering excellent terrain for ascents and long descents. Most tours in this region start near sea level and rise up to 1,000 meters, giving us the chance to ski multiple routes. Enjoy your first day in Iceland’s backcountry, surrounded by breathtaking Arctic views and untouched snowfields. Iceland ski touring offers a perfect balance of challenging ascents and thrilling descents in an isolated, serene environment. The itinerary can change based on weather conditions and level of the group.
Today, we’ll set our sights on Kerling, the highest peak on the Troll Peninsula, standing at 1,528 meters. This iconic ascent offers stunning panoramic views over Iceland’s northern fjords and valleys. The climb will be steady, but the reward is a thrilling descent back into the valley below. Kerling is a highlight of any ski touring in Iceland, and the day’s adventure will leave you with unforgettable memories of this towering peak. The itinerary can change based on weather conditions and level of the group.
On day four, we’ll explore some of the Troll Peninsula's lesser-known valleys. These secluded spots are perfect for ski touring, offering quiet routes and pristine snow. The valleys are framed by peaks carved by glaciers, making the descents particularly enjoyable. You’ll have the opportunity to ski fresh snow in a peaceful, remote setting. The itinerary can change based on weather conditions and level of the group.
Today’s tour takes us near the stunning Eyjafjörður fjord. We’ll start near the coast, working our way up the peaks that rise from the ocean. The scenery here is truly special, with the snow-covered mountains contrasting against the deep blue waters of the fjord. Multiple ascents and descents are possible, making it another fantastic day of backcountry skiing. The itinerary can change based on weather conditions and level of the group.
Our focus today will be on the Skagafjörður area. Known for its sweeping valleys and challenging terrain, this part of the Troll Peninsula provides the perfect setting for a full day of backcountry skiing. We’ll explore various routes that offer both exciting climbs and exhilarating descents. The views of the surrounding glaciers and fjords will be a constant companion throughout the day.The itinerary can change based on weather conditions and level of the group.
Our last full day of skiing will take us to some of the highest and most iconic peaks in the Troll Peninsula. Based on the weather and snow conditions, we’ll have the chance to revisit favorite spots or discover new routes. Whether carving through open snowfields or navigating through deep valleys, this final day promises multiple ascents and thrilling descents, bringing our Iceland ski touring adventure to an epic conclusion. The itinerary can change based on weather conditions and level of the group.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our journey back to Reykjavík. If your flight schedule allows, we can stop at Akureyri, Iceland’s northern capital, or visit some of the hot springs and waterfalls along the way. Once back in Reykjavík, you’ll have time to explore the city’s cultural spots or enjoy a final Icelandic meal before heading to the airport for your flight home.
