Overview

The Dalmatia region in Croatia is a dreamland for both climbers and sailors. Seventy-nine islands (and an infinite number of islets) run parallel to the coast, among which Brač, Pag, and Hvar are the largest. There is everything from bouldering, to short well-bolted sport routes, super long sport and trad routes, to deep water soloing. Icio and Marina's climbing and sailing experiences - including climbing stories of first ascents around the world, and cross-continental sailing journeys - will entertain you throughout the whole trip. It is an expedition, not a 5* holiday: get ready to help out in the sailing maneuvers and climb in really off-the-beaten-track crags!

There is everything from bouldering, short well-bolted sport routes, super long sport and traditional routes, to deep water soloing - almost every one of the 1000+ islands has vertical or overhanging cliffs on its south side! What better way to discover the area than sailing across all these islands?

Climbing Skills

The sailing and climbing expedition is conceived for climbers of all levels who want to explore and climb in pristine areas and lead the sailor life. Dalmatia has crags for every level, from 5a to 9a. No minimum level is required, since Icio is a fully certified mountain guide. The helmet must be worn at all times! (on this trip it is not included, remember to bring it!) What is needed is an adventurous attitude and thirst for exploration!

Mapo Tapo selects crags and local partners with the utmost care. We can for any inaccuracies, however, accept no liability. Rock climbing is a risk sport that takes place in nature. Ultimately, you are fully responsible for the choices you make. Mapo Tapo recommends that anyone who does not have sufficient knowledge not to go outdoor alone

Wonderful 7-days sailing and climbing trip across several islands along the Dalmatian coast! Thanks to Icio and Marina we discovered remote, fascinating spots for climbing, including a private crag entirely spitted by a local climber. We slept both in ports and bays, tasted local food, wine and liquors, and attempted to sail the boat by ourselves!

The Mapo Tapo partners have made this experience unforgettable. Icio and Marina worked out a holiday -plan perfectly customized to us. Not only pleasant sailing along the most impressive coastlines of Croatia but also hiking to panoramic peaks, canoeing through wonderful bays, resuming our forgotten climbing-skills on sunny cliffs and, last but not least tasting fresh fish in small restaurants hidden in the little marinas.

FAQs

No minimum level is required for this trip as you will be accompanied at all times by a certified guide. However, you'll get the most out of it if you can already climb 5a on a toprope.

The minimum number of travellers is 2, and maximum 4.

You'll be staying on the boat, which means sleeping in shared cabins of 2.

The first step is to get to Split - you can do this by car, plane or ferry. From Split, you will need to take a ferry to Supetar on the island of Brac (departure every 2 hours).

If you are travelling by car, you will then need to drive from Supetar to the ACI Marina in Milna (approx 20 min) where Icio and Marina will welcome you on to the boat. If you do not have a car, Icio or Marina will pick you up at Supetar - just let us know in advance through the Whatsapp group. You can also take a ferry from Supetar to Milna, but these are quite infrequent.

For food - drinks - moorings in ports - fuel a common fund will be set up for expenses, excluding skipper.
