What you'll do

Dive into a distinctive alpine climbing venture to conquer Gran Paradiso, Italy’s celebrated 4,000-meter peak, ideal for climbers in good physical condition seeking technical mastery. Gran Paradiso stands out for its unique isolation and the revered Madonnina statue at its summit, offering an unparalleled mountaineering challenge. This experience tests your endurance and technical skills, leading you to one of the Alps' most serene and majestic summits.

Itinerary

Meet at 11:00 AM in Aosta for an equipment check. We drive to Val di Cogne-Valnontey and start our hike, ascending 950 meters to Vittorio Sella Refuge, at 2,588 meters, over 3-4 hours. The day promises striking views and a solid start to our mountaineering adventure.
Today involves a 1,042-meter ascent to Punta Rossa della Grivola (3,630 meters), offering spectacular views of the Aosta Valley. The 6-8 hour hike tests endurance with a rewarding summit panorama. We return to Vittorio Sella Refuge for the night.
Your route starts with a climb to the Col Lauson at 3,296 meters, followed by a descent into the Levionaz valley to an elevation of 2,600 meters. You'll then traverse the Grand Neyron Glacier and ascend to the Grand Neyron pass at 3,252 meters. This segment offers stunning panoramic views as you make your way to the Federico Chabod Refuge, located at 2,750 meters.
Focusing on essential alpine techniques, we practice with crampons and ice axes on the Laveciau Glacier. This preparation is crucial for our summit attempt. We return to Chabod Refuge, readying ourselves for the challenge ahead.
Our final ascent begins early, targeting the summit of Gran Paradiso (4,061 meters). The climb covers 1,360 meters up and 2,250 meters down over 10-11 hours. After reaching the summit, we descend to Pravieux parking for a transfer back, concluding our mountaineering journey.
