We trekked to Everest Base Camp over December and January, and for us it was the perfect time to go. Winter meant much smaller crowds on the trails and in the teahouses, and we were rewarded with crystal-clear blue skies almost every day. The mountain views were incredible from start to finish. The trade-off was the cold. Early mornings and evenings could be bitterly cold, especially at the higher elevations, but with the right layers it was absolutely manageable. The trail conditions were excellent throughout the trek. The dry winter weather meant stable footing and fantastic visibility across the Khumbu Valley. Seeing Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam against deep blue skies day after day felt almost unreal. Accommodation was basic but comfortable, with welcoming teahouses providing a warm place to rest at the end of each day. Meals were hearty and filling, with dal bhat, soups and noodle dishes becoming daily favourites. The team from Freedom Adventures played a huge part in making the trip so memorable. Their focus was always on safety and the wellbeing of the group. They made sure we walked slowly enough to acclimatise properly, monitored everyone closely for signs of altitude sickness, and never left anyone behind. No one was made to feel rushed, and their experience gave the whole group confidence throughout the trek. What made this trip different from any other was the sense of achievement that built day by day. Every step took us deeper into the Himalayas, and reaching Base Camp felt genuinely earned. I'd recommend this trek to anyone with a reasonable level of fitness who enjoys spectacular scenery, cultural experiences and a challenge. If you're prepared for some cold weather, winter offers a quieter and arguably more magical Everest Base Camp experience.
We did the EBC in Q4 of 2025 and it was just phenomenal! Every aspect of the trek was executed perfectly and our guides were friendly and knowledgeable throughout our journey! Highly recommend this challenging trek through Mapo Tapo/Freedom Adventures!
Had an amazing trek to Everest base camp by Freedom Adventure! Kush and the guides were amazing! They elevated the experience with their knowledge and all the little details along the way! Couldn’t have asked for better guides!!
Spent the end of November/start of December doing the EBC trek with Kush and his incredible team of assistant guides and support staff. Could not have asked for a better experience!
The trip was well organised. I did not encounter any logistical issues, and if others did, they were overall well-handled. The information we received beforehand was accurate, allowing me to be well-prepared for the trip. The guides were kind and very attentive to our well-being, and managed a large group with no hiccups.
