What you'll do

Explore the breathtaking beauty of Macedonia on a multi-day hiking adventure, conquering Golem Korab, the country's highest peak at 2,764m. Trek through stunning national parks, where nature's wonders unfold before your eyes. Discover Ohrid, the spiritual heart of the Balkans, home to ancient churches and tranquil lakeside views, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Immerse yourself in Macedonian culture by savoring authentic cuisine and wines, while uncovering the stories and traditions of this fascinating land.


Itinerary

Your adventure begins with a warm airport welcome and transfer to your hotel (12 PM). After settling in, enjoy traditional refreshments and a light meal. In the afternoon, explore Skopje’s cultural and historical center on a relaxed walk through its landmarks and stories. The day ends with a traditional Macedonian dinner, offering a taste of local cuisine and a glimpse into the journey ahead. Return to the hotel for a restful night before the adventure begins.
After breakfast, we drive 1.5 hours by 4x4 to Shar Mountain National Park and begin our hike at (1,700 m / 5,577 ft). The trail takes us through soft alpine terrain to Titov Vrv (2,747 m / 9,012 ft), the park’s highest peak. At the summit, we pause for a picnic and enjoy sweeping views. After descending, we transfer to a comfortable hotel for a traditional Macedonian dinner and a well-deserved rest. Distance: 22 km (13.67 mi) | Elevation Gain: +1,047 m (+3,435 ft) -1,047 m (-3,435 ft) | Duration: 8–9 hours
After breakfast, we begin our hike to Medenica Peak (2,163 m / 7,096 ft), the highest point on Mount Bistra, starting from 1,563 m (5,127 ft). The trail offers a mix of scenic beauty and cultural insight, passing through areas rich in endemic biodiversity. At the summit, we’ll enjoy a peaceful picnic with panoramic views of Mavrovo Lake, Korab, Deshat, Krchin, and the Radika River valley. If time and energy permit, we’ll explore the historic village of Galichnik, known for its stone houses and traditional customs. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay in a cozy mountain hotel. Distance: 16 km (9.1mi) | Elevation Gain: +600 m (+1,968 ft) -600 m (-1,968 ft) | Duration: 6 hours
After breakfast, a short 30-minute transfer takes us to the trailhead (1,500 m / 4,928 ft). The hike to Golem Korab (2,764 m / 9,068 ft) follows soft terrain through a UNESCO-listed natural area rich in endemic wildlife. Along the way, we take breaks to rest and enjoy the serene mountain landscape. At the summit, we’ll pause for a peaceful picnic with breathtaking views. During the descent, we may visit local farms to taste seasonal products like cheese and honey. The journey continues through the scenic Radika and Drim river canyons, with a visit to the Monastery of Saint John the Baptist. We end the day in Ohrid with a lakeside stay and a traditional dinner. Distance: 19 km (11.8 mi) | Elevation Gain: +1,260 m (+4,133 ft) -1,260 m (-4,133 ft) | Duration: 7–8 hours
After a 40-minute 4x4 transfer, we begin our hike at 1,568 m (5,144 ft) in Galicica National Park. The trail ascends gently through forest before opening up to panoramic views of both Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa - a rare and stunning sight. At the summit, we pause for a peaceful picnic. After descending, we may visit a lakeside 10th-century monastery or enjoy a short cultural walk through Ohrid. Distance: 9 km (5.59 mi) | Elevation Gain: +687 m (+2,253 ft) -687 m (-2,253 ft) | Time: 5 hours
Starting at 1,300 m (4,265 ft), we hike through ancient Molika pine forests to Kopanki Hut, stopping at the memorial of Dimitar Ilievski Murato. From there, the trail leads through conifer woods and unique stone rivers before opening to alpine meadows. The final ascent offers expansive views of Lake Prespa and rare endemic flora. Distance: 18 km (11.1 mi) | Elevation Gain: +1,150 m (+3,722 ft) -1,150 m (-3,722 ft) | Time: 8 hours
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport, bringing our unforgettable adventure to a close (11 AM).
