Embark on an unforgettable 5-day trek through the Lagorai Mountains with the Alta Via del Granito trail. This stunning journey takes you into the heart of Trentino’s wilderness, where you'll explore Cima d’Asta, the highest peak in the Lagorai range, and experience the serene beauty of crystal-clear lakes, fragrant forests, and pink granite rocks. The trek is a full immersion in nature, with each day offering new panoramas, from the peaceful meadows to the dramatic views from the summit of Cima d'Asta.
Stay in cozy mountain huts, where you’ll enjoy good food, warm hospitality, and the simplicity of mountain life. Along the way, you’ll discover the essence of the Trentino Alps, with its peaceful atmosphere, rich history, and authentic mountain culture.

Itinerary

Day 1 – From Trento to Rifugio Caldenave

Arrive in Trento at 12:30 PM for a warm coffee close to the train station, and meet your fellow trekkers. At 13:15, board the transfer to the starting point of the trek. Your first hike is a gentle climb through larch forests to Rifugio Caldenave, nestled by a small lake. The crystal-clear waters reflect the surrounding peaks, providing a magical start to your journey. Take time to explore the surroundings or relax before enjoying the first mountain sunset. Distance: 6 km (3.7 mi) | Elevation Gain: +800 m (+2,625 ft), Elevation Loss: -350 m (-1,148 ft) | Time: 4 hours

Day 2 – To Malga Sorgazza via Lago di Costa Brunella

Get ready for a day of stunning landscapes. Begin with a climb toward the granite plateau, passing the beautiful Lago di Costa Brunella, a high-altitude gem. The views of turquoise waters surrounded by rugged mountains are breathtaking. After a scenic descent, you’ll arrive at Malga Sorgazza, where the scent of pastures and flowing streams adds to the peaceful atmosphere. Distance: 8 km (5.0 mi) | Elevation Gain: +600 m (+1,969 ft), Elevation Loss: -900 m (-2,953 ft) | Time: 5–6 hours

Day 3 – To Rifugio Cima d’Asta, enjoying panoramic views

Today’s challenge brings you into the heart of the Cima d’Asta massif. The ascent to the Rifugio Cima d’Asta is demanding but rewards you with spectacular views of boulder fields, alpine lakes, and streams. After reaching the hut, take a moment to soak in the 360° panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The high-altitude air here offers a truly unforgettable experience. Distance: 6 km (3.7 mi) | Elevation Gain: +1000 m (+3,281 ft), Elevation Loss: -0 m (-0 ft) | Time: 4–5 hours

Day 4 – Summit Day: Cima d’Asta and descent to Malga Conseria

Wake up early for the summit ascent of Cima d’Asta. The route to the top is steep, with rocky terrain and fields. As you gain altitude, the views of the Lagorai range become even more dramatic. The descent leads to Malga Conseria, set in lush green meadows where the scent of pastures and the murmur of streams create a great evening atmosphere. Distance: 10 km (6.2 mi) | Elevation Gain: +600 m (+1,969 ft), Elevation Loss: -1200 m (-3,937 ft) | Time: 6–7 hours

Day 5 – To Ponte Conseria and Trento

The final day offers a relaxing descent. Enjoy a peaceful walk through meadows and forests, slowly making your way back to Ponte Conseria. Reflect on your journey as you descend, appreciating the beauty of the Lagorai mountains one last time. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred back to Trento for lunch (around 12 PM) and the conclusion of your adventure. Distance: 2 km (1.2 mi) | Elevation Loss: -300 m (-984 ft) | Time: 1 hour
