What you'll do

Trade the ordinary for the pulse of the Atlantic. Based in the sun-drenched coastal village of El Médano, this 8-day journey is an immersion into the raw, volcanic soul of Tenerife. Whether you are catching your very first wave or looking to refine your style, SurfWeek Tenerife combines expert instruction with the effortless flow of island life. Your home is a soulful surf house just steps from the ocean, where shared breakfasts and golden-hour aperitivos turn fellow travelers into a dedicated community. Beyond the break, the island’s wild landscapes beckon. We’ll chase sunsets from black sand beaches, hone our balance on surfskates, and journey from the jagged ridges of Masca to the lunar expanse of Teide National Park. Expect active mornings, salt-streaked hair, and long dinners in local guachinches. Guided by our on-site team, every day is shaped by the tides and the wind, ensuring you experience the best of the Canary lifestyle. This is more than a surf camp; it’s a week of pure outdoor connection, designed for those who want to ride the waves and discover the untamed side of the island.

Itinerary

Touch down in the land of eternal spring. After a quick 20-minute transfer from Tenerife South, you'll settle into our surf house (check-in from 4 PM) in El Médano—a laid-back coastal gem where the Atlantic pulse is felt on every corner. Once you're checked in, join the crew on the terrace for a welcome aperitivo. As the sun dips low, we’ll brief you on the week's swell and get our first look at the local breaks waiting right outside our front door. The ocean is calling; your surfing adventure starts now.
Wake up to the salt air of El Medano for a day dedicated to mastering the ride. We begin on solid ground with a surfskate session, perfect for honing your balance and reading the lines of the ocean before hitting the water. After a fresh lunch at the surfhouse, it’s time for your first coached session in the Atlantic swells. Spend the rest of the afternoon in a rhythmic freesurf, followed by a sunset aperitivo in the heart of the village. We wrap up the day with an evening theory session to deepen your connection with the waves.
Ascent before dawn to the summit of Montaña Roja, where the Atlantic horizon blazes to life. After a celebratory breakfast overlooking the crater, descend for a refreshing dip in the coast’s hidden natural pools. Your afternoon is dedicated to refinement during your second formal surf lesson, followed by a golden hour free-surf as the sun dips below the waves. Overnight at the surfhouse.
Trade your surfboard for hiking boots as we journey into the heart of the island: Teide National Park. Watch the scenery transform from lush pine forests into a surreal lunar landscape of ancient lava flows and volcanic craters above the clouds. After a picnic lunch on the high plateau, we head back to the coast, recharged and ready for your third surf lesson. Cap off the day with a golden hour free surf as the sun dips toward the Atlantic.
After days on the board, today belongs to the open road. Trade the lineup for the wild north coast, where the island’s character shifts toward ancient laurisilva forests and the dramatic black sands of Benijo. We’ll wind through small fishing hamlets, find a spontaneous spot for a long lunch, and soak in the rugged scenery far from the tourist track. As the golden hour hits, we’ll make it back to La Tejita for well-earned cold beers and a classic Canary sunset.
By now, the group has found its natural rhythm in the water. Morning lesson four is all about refining your technique as the Atlantic swell becomes your playground. After a slow lunch at the surfhouse, the afternoon is yours: chase a long sunset session or simply soak up the island sun on the golden sands of El Médano. We’ll end the day at a local family-run restaurant, savoring authentic Canarian flavors in a spot that has remained unchanged since long before the first surfers arrived.
Start the day with a scenic journey to Masca, a legendary village perched precariously within the rugged Teno massif. After taking in some of the island’s most dramatic landscapes and enjoying lunch on the road, we head back to El Medano for our final surf session. Paddle out into the golden afternoon light to catch your last waves of the trip, celebrating your progress as the sun dips low. We’ll wrap up the adventure with a farewell dinner at the surfhouse, sharing stories of the week under the Atlantic stars.
Savor one last breakfast with the crew as you look back on a week of Atlantic swells and island magic. From conquering your first waves to exploring Tenerife’s diverse microclimates, you’re leaving with salt in your hair and newfound confidence. It’s time to head to the airport (check out by 10 AM, 20-minute transfer), carrying the rhythm of the ocean home with you. Five surf lessons, and one unforgettable adventure. Safe travels!
