What you'll do

Surfweek in Somo is an immersive experience for those who want to live surfing at 360°. Located on the north coast of Spain, Playa de Somo offers perfect waves for all levels. During the week, you’ll alternate surf lessons with qualified instructors, relaxing moments in carefully selected surfhouses, and group activities that will make you feel at home from the very first moment. The program is designed to help you improve quickly in the water, but also to disconnect from routine and meet people who share the same passion. You’ll enjoy a mix of sport, travel, and authentic connections in one of Europe’s best surf spots.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Ocean's Welcome to Somo

Your adventure begins in the salty air of Somo, a legendary corner of Cantabria where the ocean sets the rhythm. After a smooth 25-min transfer from Santander, settle into our cozy surf house by 4 PM—your home away from home for the week. Once the group is gathered, we’ll kick things off with a welcome briefing to share the stoke and outline the days ahead. As the sun dips low, we’ll gather around the table for a traditional Cantabrian welcome dinner, fueling up for your first taste of the waves. Meet your fellow travelers, and let the magic of the coast sink in.

Day 2 – First Waves And Sunset Surf

Wake up and fuel up with a hearty breakfast before heading to the beach for your first official surf lesson. Under the guidance of expert instructors, you’ll catch your very first waves in the mellow lineup of Somo. After a relaxed lunch on the sand, we’ll head back to the surf house for an introductory SurfSkate demo session (30 min): this is the perfect way to refine your balance and posture on land. As the golden hour approaches, the ocean is yours for a sunset-free surf, followed by a cozy dinner at the house to celebrate your first day in the water.

Day 3 – Salt-aired streets and sunset surf

Wake up to the sound of the Atlantic and fuel up for your second coached session. As your confidence grows, we’ll dive deeper into the craft with a theory workshop and an exclusive visit to the Happy Bay shaping room to see how boards come to life. Enjoy a slow afternoon wandering through the salt-aired streets of Somo before grabbing a board for a sunset free surf. We’ll wrap up the day back at the surfhouse, sharing stories over a home-cooked dinner.

Day 4 – Coastal wander to lighthouse sunset

Wake up to the sound of the Atlantic and fuel up for your third guided session. By now, you’re finding your rhythm on the board, feeling the flow of the Cantabrian swells. After lunch on the sandy beach, the afternoon is yours to practice your pop-up or simply soak in the surf culture at the surfhouse. We’ll wrap up the day as locals do: with a golden hour wander to the lighthouse for a sunset aperitivo, watching the sky turn pink over the Bay of Santander.

Day 5 – Choose your northern Spain adventure

Take a break from the board to discover the wild soul of Northern Spain. After breakfast, we’ll head out on a road trip to explore the region’s hidden gems. Together with the group, we can choose between the surf vibes of San Vicente de la Barquera, the medieval charm of Santillana del Mar, or the vibrant culture of Bilbao. After lunch on the road, the plan is yours: return to the coast for a sunset free surf session or, if the group prefers, stay to soak up the city atmosphere until evening, heading back later directly at the house.

Day 6 – Ocean's Embrace and Santiago's Path

Wake up to the sound of the Atlantic and fuel up for your fourth surf session. By now, the board starts feeling like a good friend as you refine your pop-up and ride the mellow waves of Somo. After a home-cooked lunch, we’ll trade the surfboard for walking shoes to explore a stunning coastal stretch of the Camino de Santiago, stopping to give back to the ocean with a community beach clean-up. As the sky turns golden, find your flow during a sunset yoga session before sharing stories over a final group dinner at the surfhouse

Day 7 – Somo's Spirit Surf and Soul

Savor your final full day in the Cantabrian swells with a hearty breakfast followed by your fifth and final surf lesson. It’s the perfect moment to consolidate everything you’ve learned and celebrate your progress in the water. After a morning in the waves, we’ll head back for a festive garden BBQ, enjoying farm-to-table products and the great company of your fellow travelers. To give back to the coastline that hosted us, we’ll dedicate some time to a beach clean-up activity. Finish the day with one last sunset free surf, soaking in the magic of Somo before a farewell dinner at the surf house.This is the spirit of Somo: surf, community, and soul.

Day 8 – Ocean's Embrace Fades

One last breakfast. You soak in the salt air and the memories of your first waves. It's time to pack your wetsuit and swap the surfboard for your boarding pass. After the check-out at 11 AM, we’ll drive you back to Santander Airport, leaving the Cantabrian coast behind but carrying the rhythm of the ocean home with you. Safe travels, surfer!

Wolfhouse (Nights 1–7)

The Surf House in Somo is a spacious 450 sqm independent villa spread over two floors, designed for a relaxed and social surf experience. Surrounded by an 800 sqm garden, it offers plenty of outdoor space to unwind, enjoy a BBQ, or connect with the group. Located less than 1 km from Somo and Loredo beaches, you can easily walk to the ocean for surf sessions or sunset views. The house features shared rooms (6 people), a fully equipped kitchen, five shared bathrooms for all of the guests in the surfhouse, and includes linens and towels. WiFi is available throughout, making it a comfortable base for your SurfWeek.
